Frequently asked questions

Check before you trust. How Regmio helps you vet business partners, reduce risk and make well-informed decisions.

Why check a company?

1Why check a company before doing business?

Even a familiar name is no guarantee of a safe deal. Before you start working together, it pays to confirm the company's status, signing rights, finances and risk signals.

Regmio shows all of this in one place, so you decide based on facts, not assumptions.

2When is a check especially important?

Before signing a contract, making a prepayment, paying a large invoice, delivering on credit terms or starting work with a new partner.

A few minutes of checking can save you from costly mistakes.

3Can I check whether a company really exists and is active?

Yes. Regmio shows registration details, legal status and whether the company has been liquidated or removed from the register. Especially useful when an offer comes from a company you don't know.

4Why check a partner I've known for years?

Companies change: board members, owners, finances, VAT status, legal standing. Yesterday's information may not hold true today.

With Regmio monitoring, you'll be notified automatically by email when something changes at your partners' companies.

Contracts, invoices and payments

5How can I make sure the person signing a contract is authorised to do so?

Check the officers and the signing rights — a single board member can't always represent the company alone. Regmio shows this in the company profile.

If someone signs under a power of attorney, check its validity and scope separately.

6Does Regmio help verify invoice details?

Yes. You can quickly compare the name, registration number and VAT number on an invoice with register data — handy for accountants who process many invoices every day.

Regmio shows company data but does not automatically process uploaded invoices.

7Why check a company before making a prepayment?

With a prepayment, you pay before receiving the goods or service. Before that, it's worth seeing how long the company has been operating, its status, financial statements and any warning signs.

A check doesn't guarantee the deal will go well, but it helps you make an informed decision.

8Can Regmio help me decide whether to offer a customer payment terms?

Yes. Financial indicators, track record and risk indicators help you decide whether to offer payment terms, set a lower credit limit or ask for prepayment.

9Can Regmio verify who owns the bank account on an invoice?

No — Regmio does not confirm the owner of an IBAN account.

If you receive an unexpected request to change payment details, verify it by contacting your partner through contact details you already know.

Finances and risks

10Can I see a company's financial position?

Regmio compiles annual report data — turnover, profit and other figures across several years, so you can see how the company is developing.

Public reports reflect the past and don't guarantee current solvency.

11Can I find out whether a company has tax debts?

Yes, if the country's tax authority publishes this data. Regmio shows tax debts and, for Latvia, also the State Revenue Service (VID) taxpayer rating.

12Will I see if a company is in insolvency proceedings?

Yes. Regmio shows register information on legal status and insolvency proceedings — essential before a prepayment or a long-term contract.

13What does the Regmio risk assessment mean?

It brings together publicly available signals so you can quickly spot what needs your attention.

It's an informative first assessment, not a credit rating or a guarantee. Make your final decision by weighing up the other information too.

14Can I find out who owns a company and its beneficial owners?

Yes. Regmio shows publicly available data on officers, shareholders and beneficial owners. The level of detail depends on each country's register.

15Can I see a company's history and changes?

Yes. You'll see whether the company has recently changed its name, management, address or legal status.

16Does Regmio check for sanctions risks?

Yes. Regmio screens the company and its related persons against the EU, UN, US OFAC, UK and Latvian national sanctions lists. You can also search the lists separately.

A matching name doesn't prove that sanctions apply to that exact person — such cases need closer review.

It takes less than a minute:

  1. Go to regmio.eu.

  3. Open the company profile.
  4. Sign in with your email to see the full information.

No accounting or legal knowledge needed.

19Do I need to register and create a password?

No. You sign in with a one-time code we send to your email, and your account is created automatically. Quick and easy.

20Can I also check Estonian and Lithuanian companies?

Yes! Regmio brings together company data from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania — ideal if you buy, ship or do business across the Baltics.

The amount of data varies by country: for example, Lithuanian open data doesn't include the names of all officers and shareholders.

21Can I check a VAT number?

Yes. Regmio checks VAT number validity in real time in the European Commission's VIES system — important for cross-border deals.

22How up to date is the data?

Regmio updates register data automatically every day, as soon as the official source publishes new data. VIES checks happen in real time.

For legally or financially significant decisions, also confirm the information in the official register.

23Why Regmio instead of separate registers?

Otherwise you have to search several websites — company registers, tax databases, financial statements and sanctions lists.

Regmio brings it all together in one overview. Less time searching, more time deciding.

24Who is Regmio most useful for?

Business owners and managers, accountants, lawyers, procurement and sales professionals — anyone who works with other companies.

Whether you're checking one new supplier or regularly reviewing all your partners, Regmio helps you do it faster and more safely.
