A tax debt is one of the clearest signs that a company has cash-flow problems. Before paying in advance, granting credit or signing a long-term contract, check both the current debt and its history.
What is available in each country
- Estonia — EMTA publishes a list of tax debtors with the exact amount, the disputed part and any payment schedule. Regmio also keeps the debt history.
- Lithuania — VMI publishes tax debtor data with the debt amount and the deferred part.
- Latvia — the SRS (VID) publishes exact amounts in its debtor database, which is not available as open data. Indirect signals are available: the SRS taxpayer rating, security measures, suspension of business activity and the trend in taxes paid.
How to read it
- A small, short-lived debt with a payment schedule is not necessarily a problem.
- A growing or long-standing debt, especially together with falling turnover, is a serious warning.
- Suspension of activity or security measures mean the tax authority is already taking action.
How to do it with Regmio
In the "Taxes" section of a company profile you see the current debt (Estonia and Lithuania), the debt history, taxes paid by quarter and the tax authority's rating. With monitoring, Regmio emails you once a day about significant changes in a company's data, including tax risk signals.
Data is updated daily; see data sources.
